Mandatory Membership Renewal!

Posted on

Hi Moms!

As many of you already know, the MCAC board has recently appointed fellow member, Maia McCleery, to be our new webmaster.  Maia has been very busy updating and revamping our website.  One of the biggest updates is our new online member registration/renewal form.  It is simple to use and allows us to maintain member information more efficiently.

Now that we have started using this online form we are requiring all members to update their information.   Please visit our website and look for the “JOIN/RENEW THE MOTHERS’ CLUB” tab or simply follow this link: http://mcac.wordpress.com/join-the-mothers-club/.

Also, if you are a Facebook user and not a member of the Mothers’ Club private facebook group, please request to join.  You can follow this link and request to join:http://www.facebook.com/groups/210882318950337/

Please note!!  We have decided, as a board, that the Mothers’ Club of Amador County should not be limited to just moms with children under five.  All moms need support which is why all moms with children under 18 are welcome to join.

**We will be updating our roster on July 1st, 2012 to include members that have renewed their membership.

If you do not update your information by July 1st,  it will not be included in the current roster and you will no longer receive email notifications from the Mothers’ Club.  If, however, you decide to rejoin at a later date you are always welcome to do so.**

If you have ANY questions feel free to contact  me.

MAY UPDATES!

Hello Moms,

My name is Laura Dillian and I am the new Secretary for the Mother’s Club of Amador County. I will be sending out updates each month from our Board Meetings. Our first meeting was a great success and we are all looking forward to the coming year. I have a few important updates for all of you but first would like to introduce our new board:

Michelle Vasquez, Co-Director
Amber Hoiska, Co-Director
Kristen Betton, Member Coordinator
Mary Parker, Treasurer
Laura Dillian, Secretary
Jamie Arellano, Social Coordinator
Taunya Struhs, Meals Coordinator
Maia McCleery, Webmaster
Our Webmaster, Maia McCleery is working on a new website for the Mother’s Club of Amador County. The new website will help to inform members of upcoming events and will also allow moms to join the club by filling out a simple online application. Once the webpage is launched we are going to update our membership list and have everyone re-join the club by filling out the online application.  Many people have moved away or are no longer active so this will help us clean up the list and keep better track of our current membership.  Stay tuned for that announcement.
On Saturday, May 19th our Co-Director Michelle Vasquez will be hosting a Mom’s Movie Night at her home. Come enjoy some girl time and lots of laughs. Keep your eye out for more info on this and mark your calendars in the meantime.
Our next Mommy Mingle is scheduled for Tuesday, May 29. Board members meet at 5:30 pm to discuss club business. All members are welcome to attend this portion and participate by offering their ideas and input. The “Mingle” portion will be from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.  This month we will have guest speakers that will be demonstrating and teaching us about self-defense techniques every woman should know. Items such as pepper spray key chains, child monitoring systems and stun guns will be available for purchase to those that are interested. We will have a potluck dinner, please bring a dish to share. Child care is available onsite, courtesy of the wonderful Miss Tammy Hobbick. Make sure to let us know if you will be bringing your children when you RSVP.
Our Mom’s Club Yard Sale is scheduled for Saturday, June 9th in Sutter Creek. Please start saving the items you would like to donate and contact me to arrange a drop off time. I can be reached at lauradillian@yahoo.com or (209) 267-5288. I will begin taking items anytime after Monday, May 14th. We will also need volunteersto help with set up, running of the sale and clean up. We are scheduling volunteers in the following time increments: 7am – 10am, 10am – 12pm, 12pm – 2pm, 2pm – 4pm and 4pm – 6pm.  Another successful aspect of last year’s sale was the Baked Goods, so these would also be a great thing to volunteer for. Contact me as soon as possible if you are interested in helping in anyway.  This was a huge success last year and helped pay for a lot of our fun activities. Please support us however you can. We really need and appreciate your effort.

Mommy Mingles and Updates!

Hi, Moms!!
Thank you so much to those who came out for our Mommy Mingle last month!!! We loved meeting some new Moms and are so excited to see you all at some upcoming events!

Our next scheduled event is Saturday, May 19th, which is the Mom’s Movie Night Inat our awesome Co-Director, Michelle Vasquez’s house. Come enjoy some girl time and lots of laughs! Keep your eye out for more info on this shortly!!
Our Mommy Mingles take place on the last Tuesday of each month and will be at the new First 5 building from now on. On site Childcare is provided for these events and it is a GREAT way to come meet the Moms and “Mingle”!  The next one will be on Tuesday, May 29th. It is the perfect way to unwind and visit after a crazy day, whether you work or stay home. We hope to see you there!!

On another note, Please start saving your unused items for the Mom’s Club Yard Sale, which has been scheduled for Saturday, June 9th in Sutter Creek. We will also need volunteers to help with set up, running and clean up. Another successful aspect of last year’s sale was the Baked Goods, so these would also be a great thing to volunteer for. Please let us or Michelle Vasquez know if you are interested in helping! This was a huge success last year and helped pay for a lot of our fun activities, so please support us however you can!! We really need and appreciate your effort.

Also, please let us know any other suggestions you have for Fundraising for our Club since we will likely not be receiving a grant as we have in the past due to this economy and budget cuts.

Also mark your calendars for Family Concert Night at Sutter Creek Park on Friday, July 20th! This is a free public event and we reserve an area for us all to relax, eat, drink (beer/wine welcome!) and listen to music while the kids play at the park. This was so much fun last year and we are looking forward to it again!

We are also working on several other fun activities, so keep your eyes and ears peeled. Hope to see you out at some events!!! As always, PLEASE feel free to contact any Board member  with any questions or concerns.

REMEMBER: We also meet often for impromptu playdates and field trips… these are usually planned anywhere from a week to a day in advance and are usually communicated in theAmador County Mother’s Club Facebook Group, which has been the easiest and fasted way to connect. Recently these have included numerous trips to local parks (this weather has been AMAZING!) and trips to the Folsom Zoo and Fairytale Town. If you are not yet a member of the Facebook Group, please join! https://www.facebook.com/#!/groups/210882318950337/
AND as the weather improves (and summer clothing season approaches!), our Mommy & Me Walking/Jogging Group will become more and more active. We usually meet a couple of times a week, and it is totally voluntary and up to your schedule when/if you meet with us each week. We formed a Private Facebook Group for this purpose so that all the members can post when they would like to walk or jog to find a partner (or five!) with a similar schedule. We have working Moms, SAHMs, some walkers, some joggers and some in between… the idea is for anyone in any position to be able to find someone to exercise with… someone who will understand if your child(ren) fusses. If you would like to be in this group and are not, here is the link: https://www.facebook.com/#!/groups/150804071696870/. Send a request and we will add you!!

Kindergarten Bridge Program

“I am so proud of these little guys and girls.  It is absolutely
amazing how far they have already come during Bridge.”

Kathy Mauzy, Ione Bridge Teacher (2007-2011)

The Bridge to Kindergarten Transition Program is designed for children who will be entering kindergarten in the fall.  Priority is given to children who have spent little or no time in a preschool setting. The program is designed to introduce the young children to the structure and rhythm of the classroom. It is called a Bridge Program because it is aimed at helping children cross from the Pre-kindergarten environment to Kindergarten.

One hundred and wenty children participated in the Summer 2011 Bridge Program which consisted of nine classes at all six elementary schools within Amador County.  Two classes were held at Jackson, Plymouth, and Ione Elementary Schools, while each of the following sites had one class: Pine Grove, Pioneer, and Sutter Creek Primary.  Students, parents and teachers thoroughly enjoyed and benefited greatly from this transitional program.

Please call First 5 Amador if you have any questions, 257-1092.

The Bridge curriculum is built upon the “School Readiness” framework as outlined by local teachers, administrators, parents and professionals.

The skills are broken down into the following categories:

 Social Readiness   Number Readiness
 Colors & Shapes  Life Skills
Motor Skills (Large & Fine)  Reading Readiness
 Writing Readiness  Music & Art
 Heath & Safety

For skills relevant to each of the above categories, please check out our School Readiness Skills Lists:
